Where town, country, and an esteemed tradition come together.
A highlight on the local calendar for more than 85 years, the Wānaka A&P Show is a contemporary version of a much-loved, long-standing Kiwi tradition of celebrating the agricultural and pastoral industry. It’s where top equestrian riders compete, and leading NZ farmers display animals, where young and old enter arts and crafts, and where people of all ages enjoy free entertainment and shop from 500 trade stalls. It is one of the largest A&P Shows in New Zealand, attracting around 40,000 people annually. Whatever you come for, the Show is sure to leave a lasting impression.
The Wānaka A&P Show is governed by the Upper Clutha A&P Society, an organisation that can trace its roots back to 1895. The first Show was held at the Cromwell Racecourse in 1896. In 1934, the Show moved to Wānaka and has been held at the picturesque Wānaka Showgrounds ever since.
